March 2016 Press Release

LEWISVILLE, TX – After months of planning and weeks of waiting for the final approval, 1UpOnCancer has received its official 501(c)(3) designation; the organization can now stretch their wings and soar on behalf of adult gamers dealing with the financial hardship of cancer and all it entails.

There are many charities that focus on cancer research and providing aid for children.  While 1UpOnCancer recognize the extreme importance of the work they do, a gap has been identified.  Because of the organization’s close connection with the gaming community, 1UpOnCancer will help fill that divide by providing grants to bridge the financial hardship that adults with cancer often encounter.

1UpOnCancer first introduced itself in 2015, attending TwitchCon to begin to build awareness as they began the long process for achieving federal approval as a 501(c)(3) charity.  1UpOnCancer’s awareness campaign grew in 2016 at PAX South, where they cemented themselves in the gaming community by connecting with many of the top companies in the field; they are now working with Tiltify, GameWisp, and Twitch and had their first successful charity stream in February.

The application for grants will be on the organization’s website in July and the first distributions will go out in the fall of 2016. Please support your fellow charity broadcasters and check out their 24-hour stream on March 19, 2016 on their Twitch page – twitch.tv/1UpOnCancer.

Also, please check out their booth at the Rooster Teeth Expo (RTX) this July.  They also look forward to meeting you at this year’s TwitchCon in September!
